Empowering Youth Workers through Black Light Theatre: Success of the 'Out the Shadow' Training Course




The training course "Introduction to the Black Light Theatre" under the "Out the Shadow" project successfully concluded in Dobczyce/Kraków, Poland, from December 2nd to 10th, 2024. Participants from four partner countries—Poland, Lithuania, Portugal, and Italy—came together to explore and master the captivating art of Black Light Theatre.

The intensive training aimed at equipping youth workers and educators with innovative theatrical methods designed to boost creativity, teamwork, communication skills, and intercultural dialogue among young people. Participants were actively involved in immersive practical workshops focusing on the unique techniques of Black Light Theatre, including puppetry, movement, visual storytelling, and use of ultraviolet light to create striking illusions.

Throughout the course, attendees participated in reflective group discussions, exchanging insights on applying these innovative theatre methods in youth work settings to engage young audiences effectively. By the end of the training, participants demonstrated heightened confidence in their creative abilities, forged strong international connections, and expressed a keen eagerness to implement these techniques in their own communities.

The course concluded with a vibrant showcase, allowing participants to present their newly-acquired skills through original performances. The positive atmosphere and impressive outcomes affirmed the training's success in empowering youth workers to foster creativity and intercultural understanding among the youth they support.
