In this tutorial, we would like to present a movement and object-manipulation exercise used in black light theatre practice. The video demonstrates how performers can animate a prop on a dark stage so that it appears to move independently. Through controlled hand movements and careful coordination, the object becomes the main visual focus while the performer remains hidden in the dark background.
This activity introduces participants to the basic visual principles of black light theatre, where performers dressed in black operate in a dark space while illuminated objects stand out clearly. By practicing how to guide the audience’s attention and create the illusion of independent movement, participants develop important skills such as timing, precision, and non-verbal storytelling, which are essential for creating engaging black light theatre performances.
