Puppet manipulation Part 1

In this tutorial, we would like to present a basic puppet manipulation exercise used in black light theatre practice. The video demonstrates how a simple puppet can be animated through coordinated hand movements so that it appears alive and expressive on stage. By carefully controlling the puppet’s gestures, direction, and rhythm of movement, the performer creates the illusion of a character interacting with the surrounding space while remaining hidden from the audience.

This activity introduces participants to the fundamentals of object and puppet manipulation in black light theatre. Because performers are dressed in black and operate in a dark environment, the audience’s attention is focused only on the illuminated puppet.
