Episode 27: Reframing Disability Through Collective Improvisation

This personal account explores how theatre improvisation can challenge the judgement and prejudice attached to disability. Embodied play loosens restrictive expectations and presents the body as identity rather than punishment or limitation. In a workshop exercise, participants reshaped a scene by proposing new poses, perspectives and interpretations. Each contribution altered the emerging meaning, while the group supported the protagonists in constructing a story that no individual could have designed alone. The absence of a single correct version made experimentation possible without fear of failure. The episode celebrates collective improvisation as a practice of mutual support, shared authorship and imaginative reframing, where disability can be approached through possibility rather than inability.
