Episode 14: Testing the Space: A Pre-Workshop Visibility Check

This episode provides a pre-workshop testing sequence for black light theatre. The first task is to eliminate light leaks from windows, doors, corridors, emergency signs, screens and reflective objects. UV coverage should then be checked from the audience's viewpoint, with attention to weak areas, shadows and dead zones. Fabrics, tapes, masks and props must be tested under the actual lamps, because their apparent brightness in normal light can be misleading. Performer paths, entrances, exits, object transfers and changes of level or direction should also be rehearsed. A simple camera recording can reveal unwanted visibility and help facilitators assess whether the image works before participants or audiences enter the room.
